This idea is one of many ways to move RE in an enquiring direction. If we think of pupils as researchers, then the enquiring purposes of RE come into focus. So we asked several schools (thanks to them all) to set research homework for their pupils. The results were generally so interesting that we have made a web supplement of them, and invite you to use this approach with your young people too. We asked pupils to select some questions (or make up their own) for an interview with an adult other than a teacher, and to bring their work in to share.
