Excellent RE in primary schools: a professional development model for RE

Whatever vision the Commission on RE comes up with for the future of RE, all will be fine words without skilled teachers to realise it with their pupils. Since the demise of the RE centres and local-authority RE advisers, much of the burden of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) has rested on the shoulders of NATRE and Culham St Gabriel’s (whilst recognising the many excellent diocesan advisers). In the previous edition of Professional REflection we heard from James Robson on Culham’s project involving research for RE. This article, written by two RE Today advisers, reports on an exciting and effective CPD initiative based on robust research and development.
