Free Bibles for your pupils

The Gideons International is a charity that works to give away free Bibles. It has 5,000 volunteers in the UK, who each year give more than 400,000 school pupils – usually 11-year-olds beginning secondary school – a copy of the New Testament and Psalms. REtoday readers might like to make sure that their pupils can benefit from this generosity. The Gideons has a new code of conduct, based on NATRE’s code for religious believers who visit schools, and is committed to an educational approach that does not evangelise in schools. It has seven new assembly resources and seven new RE lessons available. The distribution of New Testaments can be arranged in an assembly or through RE lessons. About 1,000 members of the Gideons have trained this year on how to contribute to assembly or RE in the best possible way. To arrange a visit from the Gideons to your school, email [email protected], mentioning REtoday.
