Hinduism and animals

Many of us may have heard of Hindu deities such as Hanuman and Ganesh and perhaps wondered why some Hindus would revere animals to such a high regard. A key starting place is the philosophy of Hinduism. The Hindu views¹ on animals could perhaps have their foundations in the concept of Brahman. Hinduism is a journey of self-realisation, and spirituality in many different forms can be utilised in order to achieve this, hence why it was originally known as Sanatan Dharma (Universal Law).
