He stood quite still, almost overwhelmed by the moment, listening to his heartbeat pounding in his head as well as his chest. He was very aware of the silence that seemed to be closing in on him and the anticipation of the faithful gathered around him. The sun was piercingly hot, reminding him of a neverto-be-forgotten day when he had felt that scorching power searing into his very being; this was another of those moments, only this time it was all up to him.
